Louisville IRONMAN Goals

It is hard to believe this year of IM training is coming to an end.  It has been a year full of blood, sweat, tears and JOY!  I have truly enjoyed training for this IRONMAN and am looking forward to Sunday.  I feel ready and confident!

Sunday I will jump in the water shortly after 7:30 a.m.  The swim start for this race is a queue – everyone jumps off the docks one at a time – the clock starts when the first person jumps in the water.  I’m hoping to get pretty close to the front of the line – I’m sure nobody else will have that same thought! :)

I do have some goals for this race so here they are...

My Number One Goal is to finish the Louisville IM with a smile on my face by 11:59:59 p.m.

However, I do have some time goals I want to achieve for each leg of the race:
  • Swim 2.4 miles: 1:50 - 2 hours
  • Bike 112 miles: 6:30 – 7:00 hours (means average speed needs to be 16 - 17.2 mph)
  • Run 26.2 miles: 5 – 5:30 hours (means average pace needs to be 11:27 - 12:30/mile)
  • Transition times total: 15 minutes
  • Other stop times: 15-20 minutes

IM Finish Time: 13:50 – 15:05 hours

You can track me throughout the day from the IRONMAN.com website - click the Louisville link.  The website also provides a live feed of the finish line so if you are tracking me, you can get an estimated time of when I will finish and watch me cross the finish line.  And hear the words “CHRIS O’CONNOR YOU ARE AN IRONMAN"!

I will be thinking about all of you during this race and truly appreciate all the best wishes and good vibes you will be sending my way.

SWIM BIKE RUN – 140.6 MILES!
